Professional Mangrove Trimming for Florida's East Coast
Brevard County's waterfront homeowners face a unique challenge, to preserve their beautiful Florida East Coast views while lawfully protecting mangroves on their property...the goal of this ISA Certified Arborist and Florida Professional Mangrove Trimmer is to skillfully assist homeowners with that challenge.
Florida's East Coast waterfront views are spectacular, and many homeowners have paid a premium to enjoy living in a waterfront home. Many of the shores along these waterfront properties are also lined with Florida's protected black, red, and white mangroves.
How is it possible to maximize and maintain a waterfront view while responsibly protecting the mangrove ecosystem present? How can a homeowner or Home Owner's Association be confident that their mangroves are trimmed in compliance with Florida's state laws?
That's where the services of a Florida Professional Mangrove Trimmer (PMT) come in. Charles Johnson of Melbourne, Florida is an ISA Cerified Arborist and is recognized by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as a PMT. He is well versed in Florida statutes regarding mangrove trimming and will lawfully trim mangroves, assisting homeowners in their quest for a beautiful waterfront property that also preserves important ecosystems.
I was born in Cocoa, Florida and currently live in Melbourne. Florida is my home and I have always enjoyed the beauty of Brevard County's waterfront shores. Trimming mangroves along Florida's East Coast waterways is some of my favorite work as an arborist. I'm very hand's on...I don't just supervise mangrove trimming, I actually trim the mangroves myself.
Understanding Florida's Mangrove Protection Laws
If you've been told that it's against the law to trim mangroves in Florida, that's a misconception. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) enforces statutes regarding proper trimming of mangroves.
If the mangroves are not trimmed in compliance with the statutes, both the property owner and the non-qualified trimmer can be fined thousands of dollars by the FDEP. The property owner may further be required to mitigate the loss of the mangroves, costing thousands more. These steep fines are in place to deter illegal removal and defoliation of mangroves. The State of Florida is serious about protecting the mangroves and mangrove ecosystems.
Professional Mangrove Trimmers (PMTs) are individuals that the FDEP recognizes as qualified to properly trim mangroves. Hiring a qualified Professional Mangrove Trimmer ensures that the mangroves are trimmed in compliance with Florida's statutes.
